Chainsaw man

Chainsaw Man, created by Tatsuki Fujimoto, is a popular Japanese manga series. The manga was initially serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020, and its second arc began in July 2022 on Shōnen Jump+'s online platform. So far, it has been compiled into 14 tankōbon volumes as of April 2023.

The story of Chainsaw Man revolves around Denji, a destitute young man who forms a contract with Pochita, a devil with a dog-like appearance. This contract merges Denji's body with Pochita's, granting Denji the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws. Denji eventually joins the Public Safety Devil Hunters, a government agency dedicated to protecting Japan from devil threats. The second arc of the series focuses on Asa Mitaka, a high school student who makes a pact with the War Devil named Yoru. Asa is compelled to hunt down Chainsaw Man to regain the devils that were taken from her.

In North America, Viz Media holds the English license for Chainsaw Man, releasing it in both print and digital formats. The manga is also available on the Manga Plus online platform, published by Shueisha. An anime adaptation of the series, produced by MAPPA, aired from October to December 2022.

As of May 2023, Chainsaw Man has reached over 24 million copies in circulation, solidifying its position as one of the best-selling manga series. It received the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2021, and it was also recognized at the Harvey Awards for Best Manga in both 2021 and 2022. Chainsaw Man has garnered positive reviews from critics, who praised its storytelling, characters, dark humor, and particularly the impactful and violent scenes that contribute to the overall narrative.
